Bill Silaghi

Bill Silaghi, beloved husband of Marianne, passed on April 26, 2025 at the age of 78.

Born in East Chicago, Indiana, Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army prior to working as a machinist for Inland Steel Company, from which he retired.

While living in Hobart, Bill met his wife of 43 years Marianne: “the new neighbor who moved into the house across the street.” They settled into married life on his side of the street, later moving to their Valparaiso home surrounding it with Bill’s birdfeeders.

Bill was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it with his easy-going nature, well-stocked toolbox and machinist’s mind.

After moving to The Villages in 2005, Bill joined the Indiana Club and made new friends from back home and became known as “Mr. Coffee.”

Soon after, Bill joined The Village Woodshop and took up carving. He approached every new wood block as a challenge to create larger, more detailed designs, and so he did. Bill’s knack for new learning extended to web based software and creating a “smart home” thanks to Alexa.

Bill is survived by his wife Marianne and his sister Lillian (John) Beda of Largo, Florida. He was preceded in death by brother Robert. Bill leaves behind a loving contingent of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and good friends.

In honor of Bill’s life, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
