Looking to dispose of old household electronics or other hazardous material?
Consider dropping off these items Saturday, August. 23 at the Gary Breeden Public Works Building for Sumter County’s Amnesty Drop-Off Day.
The Amnesty Day event will run from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Every year residents drop off more than 100,000 pounds of recycled material and more than 50,000 pounds of hazardous material, according to the county. Accepted items include household electronics and rechargeable batteries, pesticides, fungicides, old gas cans, pool chemicals, automotive batteries, and others.
Items not accepted include: biological/infectious waste, explosives, radioactive waste, empty paint cans and tires.
