The Lady Lake Police Department has released an update concerning the discovery of a body found in a field near County Road 466 last week.
On Thursday, Sept. 11, police responded to a call from construction crews who discovered a body in the tall grass at an undeveloped construction site at the corner of County Road 466 and County Road 100 (Cherry Lake Road).
Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered a body in advanced stages of decomposition.
The police department offered the following update on Monday:
“After an initial investigation conducted by Lady Lake Police detectives in coordination with the Medical Examiner’s Office, there are currently no indications that the death was the result of criminal activity. We understand the concern this incident may have caused in the community. We want to reassure residents that there is no known threat to public safety related to this case.”
The identity of the deceased has yet to be released at this time, but has been disclosed as an adult male.
