Shelter Locations in Marion County

Marion County Public Schools and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Division of Emergency Management have announced shelter locations in preparation for Hurricane Ian. Emergency Management will open multiple shelters hosted by local public schools. All shelters will open at noon on Sept. 28.

General Population Shelters:

Dunnellon High: 10055 SW 180th Ave. Rd, Dunnellon, FL 34432

Belleview Middle: 10500 SE 36th Ave., Belleview, FL 34420

Fort McCoy School: 16160 NE CR 315, Fort McCoy, FL 32134

Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary: 4397 SW 95th St., Ocala, FL 34476

North Marion Middle: 2085 W CR 329, Citra, FL 32113

Special Needs Shelter:

West Port: 3733 SW 80th Ave., Ocala, FL, 34481

Pet-Friendly Shelter:

Vanguard High: 7 NW 28th St., Ocala, FL 34475

Emergency Management officials encourage citizens to bring supplies to the shelters to last them for 24-48 hours, such as clothing, bedding, medications, food, water, etc. For anyone bring their pets to the pet-friendly shelter, they must be caged, and their recent immunization documentation must be provided. Bring whatever supplies are needed for the pets to be self-sufficient, and pick up after them as well.

Sex Offenders or Sex Predators who need shelter are encouraged to first seek shelter with family or friends in a non-residency restricted area. If that is not an option, they must report to the MCSO Sex Offender/Predator Unit office for shelter. Bring bedding, hygiene items, snack food, medicine and/or anything else needed.
