During the Lady Lake Town Commission meeting on Sept. 6, Mayor James Rietz issued a proclamation declaring the week of Sept. 17 as Constitution Week.
This year marks the 236th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.
Members from both Villages National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) chapters, Puc Puggy Chapter and John Bartram Chapter were present to witness the ceremony. Regent Sylvia Walden, of the Puc Puggy Chapter, received the proclamation and encouraged those in attendance to ring a bell at 4 p.m. on Sept. 17 to honor the historical event.
