North Marion High School Student Arrested for Bringing a Firearm to School

On Oct. 6, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) School Resource Deputy Jon Allen arrested 17-year-old Julius Nick’olas Webster for Possession of a Firearm on School Property and Carrying a Concealed Firearm.

A North Marion High School student informed Deputy Allen that he overheard two students in the bathroom making statements about having a firearm and killing someone. Deputy Allen and Assistant Principal of Discipline Michael Fritch reviewed recordings from the school’s hallway cameras and identified the two students. Webster was one of the students identified. Both students were located and searched; however, a firearm was not located. When Webster was asked where his book bag was, he stated he did not bring one to school today due to testing.

Deputy Allen then located camera footage from earlier in the morning showing Webster with a book bag. When asked about the book bag, Webster stated the book bag wasn’t his but his cousin’s book bag. Deputies then located Webster’s cousin, who said Webster had asked her to hold on to his book bag, but she took the bag to Webster’s 5th-period class and dropped it off. Deputies located and searched the book bag. Inside, they found a loaded .22 caliber Taurus pistol wrapped in a beanie. Webster made statements admitting to having the firearm and stated that he had located it in a ditch four weeks ago.

Webster was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.
