Shelter dog of the week: Opie

Opie is a happy pup who can’t wait to meet a family to call his own.

He is known by those at the shelter as a sweetheart who loves playing with toys and other dogs. He can be a bit shy when meeting new faces, but as soon as he gets comfortable, he becomes a loyal and lovable companion.

All adoption fees are currently waived at Sumter County Animal Control. Animals adopted are vaccinated for rabies and other common diseases, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and have received heartworm and flea prevention while at the shelter.

Opie is currently with a foster family, so if you’re interested in meeting Pandi, contact Sumter County Animal Services to schedule a meet and greet with the foster.

The shelter is open Thursday through Monday from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. at 819 CR 529, Lake Panasoffkee, FL 33585. Appointments only for Tuesday and Wednesday.
