Show a foster animal some love this Thanksgiving

Sumter County Animal Services encourages the community to share their homes with a foster animal this holiday.

“Let a Pet Be Thankful: Foster One for Thanksgiving” is the shelter’s theme this season.

The shelter currently has around 150 cats and dogs they hope can find foster or forever homes. Fostering is a great option for anyone who may not be sure whether or not they are ready for the full-time commitment of pet ownership, want to have a trial run or even happy just to give a pet a nice home for a few days.

If you are simply fostering an animal for the shelter, the dog or cat will still be available for adoption by the public (if they’ve already been neutered and vaccinated) and visible on the Petfinder page. Ideally, the shelter is looking for dogs and cats to be fostered by Wednesday, November 22 and kept until at least November 27. The shelter is closed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, as well as Friday, Nov.24.
