The public is invited to the swearing-in of Lady Lake Police Chief Steven Hunt

The town of Lady Lake welcomes the public to the official swearing-in ceremony of Lady Lake Police Chief Steven Hunt on Monday, August 7.

The department welcomed Hunt as an interim chief in May of this year.

Hunt comes to the department with over 35 years of law enforcement experience. A native of Maine, Hunt began his career at the age of 18 in his hometown of Veazie. He later joined the police department in Bangor, Maine, where he spent the bulk of his career, before retiring as a lieutenant in 2016. During his time with the department, he was also assigned to a role in the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency for ten years.

Hunt’s most recent position landed him in Florida working as a detective for the Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Investigative and Forensic Services, and Bureau of Insurance Fraud. Hunt also is a graduate from the FBI National Academy, Maine Criminal Justice Academy and IACP Leadership in Police Organizations.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. at the Town Hall Commission Chambers at 409 Fennell Boulevard. A reception will follow the ceremony.
