Women’s Self-Defense Class Will Be Offered This May

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Lake Technical College, will be offering free classes this upcoming May to teach and reinforce self-defense basics for women.

During the class, attendees will learn about topics such as situational awareness, levels of awareness, avoidance and prevention. This class will combine explainer videos, classroom-style presentations, interactive discussions and beginner level physical self-defense techniques. Participation in the physical portion of the class is entirely optional, and previous experience is not required. All levels of fitness are welcome, and the recommended age of attendees is 12 and over.

The first class will be May 10, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Technical College Institute of Public Safety.
