On June 3, 2023, a retail theft occurred at 270 Heald Way, The Villages, within Sumter County, at the Walmart Neighborhood Market. It was determined a female entered the store, selected multiple items, proceeded to the self-checkout where she canned the items, and ultimately left the store without paying for the items. At the end of the transaction, an associate came over to the female and verified her age due to the scanned alcohol products. After the associate entered the clearance for the alcohol items, the female gathered her bags and left the location without paying for the items.
The female entered a two-seater light blue Yamaha golf cart with a blue, white, and brown striped curtain around the top of it, operated by an older white male.
