Villager arrested for possession of child pornography

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Villager this morning for possession of child pornography.

Detectives assigned to the county’s child exploitation investigations unit, who are also members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Federal Task Force, began investigating Zane Paul Stalter, 75, after receiving tips someone at his address had been uploading videos of child pornography.

After extensive investigation, detectives accumulated enough evidence to issue an arrest warrant for Stalter. Most of the videos obtained depicted children under the age of 14.

Stalter was charged with 12 counts of possession of child pornography, and due to the number of videos obtained, had his charges reclassified as 2nd degree felonies. He is currently detained at the Sumter County Detention Center.
